How to download a YouTube thumbnail
Paste the link of a public YouTube video and press Convert. The tool reads the public title and channel, then lists every thumbnail size YouTube publishes for that video.
- Copy the video link from YouTube, the mobile app or a Shorts page.
- Paste it above and press Convert.
- Pick the size you need and press Download.
Quality and copyright
The Max size is 1280 × 720 and only exists for videos uploaded with a high-resolution thumbnail, so older videos may offer SD, HQ or MQ only. Thumbnails belong to their creators: use them only when you have permission or a valid legal basis. Tom Utilities is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

Which link formats are supported?
Standard watch links, youtu.be short links, Shorts, live, embed links and the 11-character video ID are all accepted.
Why is the Max resolution missing?
YouTube only generates maxresdefault for videos that were uploaded with a large thumbnail. For other videos the SD, HQ and MQ sizes are still available.
Can I use the thumbnail in my own project?
Only if you own it or have permission from the creator. Thumbnails are protected by copyright and may also be subject to YouTube's terms.
Does this tool download the video or audio?
No. It only returns public metadata from YouTube oEmbed and the thumbnail images.
